Wall Mounted Thermostat Dial Seems Loose

Wall mounted thermostat dial seems loose. Turn the thermostat off first and remove it from the wall base. It should come off easily. Pull the wall thermostat housing off of its wall mount plate. Basically it seems as though the two tabs at the top of the display aren t clicking into place.

These include a tripped breaker a loose connection a dirty thermostat or a bad battery in your digital thermostat. The other day i noticed that my 2nd gen nest thermostat is coming loose from the wall mount. When there is a signal for heat the dial seems to get stuck and hums until i gently mov. Often when installing a thermostat people have no or little idea of what to do.

The first thing you will want to do is to check the electrical panel to see if any breakers are off or tripped. Change your wall thermostat batteries once a year or when the low battery indicator appears on the digital display. If everything looks ok then check the battery in your thermostat if it is a digital model. If it is a loose wire turn the ac unit off by switching the breaker.
